Zero Emission Buildings was founded to help our clients reduce the carbon emissions of their buildings. In response to the global effort needed to reduce the impact of climate change, the actions and decisions that we make today must minimise the shadow of carbon that is cast into the future. This isn't always easy, and we are sensitive to that.
We help our clients navigate the myriad of legislative, technical and commercial considerations to ensure project success, measured through reduced operational carbon emissions and, often, operational costs. We can help define the first steps and we won't walk away - our goal is to see your buildings, campuses or portfolios working as efficiently possible.
In fulfilling our purpose, we want to 'do the right thing' by our clients and collaborators. We seek to establish relationships based on mutual trust, so you can expect us to act with honesty and integrity at all times. We communicate clearly and punctually.
Our technical approach strives for quality and excellence. We seek to innovate but understand that, where systems interface with people, elegant simplicity can be the best approach.
Zero Emission Buildings was founded in 2024 by John Humphries.
John has nearly 20 years' experience working across energy, sustainability and building services, supporting clients to reduce the environmental footprint of both new and existing buildings.
In this time he has led the technical delivery of some the UK's most ambitious and forward-thinking developments and decarbonisation projects. This includes leading the MEP design and energy strategy for University of Bristol's Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus, and the delivery of decarbonisation plans of 40+ buildings for GMCA, feeding into the financial modelling used to inform their flagship devolution deals.
John's friendly demeanour and technical ability have led to a number of successful long-term working relationships.
